Polishing & Grinding
If you already have a slab of concrete in your chosen area, but would like to brighten it up, or if you need fresh concrete poured and finished, you’ve come to the right place. We have all the equipment and expertise to deliver a stunning floor.

The polishing and grinding process is a reasonably straightforward one, and while some time is involved, the results can be striking. Concrete polishing and grinding has a few finishes to choose from and these are listed below.
Exposure
Gloss Level
Matte
This finish is ideal if you are looking for a more natural or rustic feel for your polished concrete floor. It is less reflective, meaning it’s easier to hide concrete imperfections and won’t show dirt easily. It also requires very minimal maintenance.
Semi-Gloss
A semi-gloss finish still offers you a glistening shine, however, not as lustrous as a full gloss finish will. It allows a certain degree of light reflectivity and will allows some of your concrete imperfection to show through.
High Gloss
High gloss offers an exceptionally shiny finish to your polished concrete flooring. Imperfections are near invisible and the finish allows light to be perfectly reflected.
Nil Exposure
A very light grind is used to achieve this and delivers a smooth finish where very little to no stones are showing (limited to no variance in the aggregate). Generally, this look is best achieved with a new pour.
Minimal Exposure
As per Nil Exposure, a light grind is used to a depth that will expose a small amount of the stone within the concrete (the aggregate).
Full Exposure
This finish requires heavy grinding to achieve a look where all stones on the surface of the concrete are visible.

Honing & Sealing
This type of concrete flooring is most suited to outdoor areas such as driveways, patios, pool areas, walkways and any other recreational areas.

When honing and sealing, we grind using a coarser grit size than when polishing, making it harder wearing and less refined. While a gloss finish can be achieved when honing and sealing, we recommend a matte finish using a penetrating sealer for practicality reasons. Anti-slip and UV resistant agents can also be added to sealers as an additional safety measure.
While this type of flooring is perfect for outdoors, we can also create beautiful indoor spaces with this finish. It is more economical than polishing and is a great commercial solution, one that is popular with restaurants, cafes and warehouses.

Burnishing
Burnishing your concrete floor creates a seamlessly smooth finish. It leaves no aggregate (stone) visible and offers more shine than polishing with a high gloss finish.

This finish is achieved using machinery that doesn’t grind the concrete, instead it melts and buffs a sealant applied to the concrete. It’s this process that gives the floor it’s nil exposure and extra lustrous finish.
A burnished floor can be created using an existing concrete slab, however, for best results, a concrete helicopter (also known as a power float or trowel machine) can be used on the day of the concrete pour to ensure a base for a perfectly smooth burnished finish.

Diamond Grinding
This kind of grinding is used to correct any imperfections within your concrete floor and can introduce or reintroduce the smooth finish that defines concrete flooring or paving.

Diamond grinding produces an exceptionally durable surface and offers a uniquely aggerated finish that regular grinding or honing can’t produce.

The cost of diamond grinding has improved over the years as the result of enhanced technology, meaning today it is an affordable concrete flooring solution.
